The editors of EcoSahara: Journal of African Literature and the Environment announce a call for papers from academics and activists interested in literature, culture and the environment in Africa and the diaspora, for the Harmattan 2012 issue. EcoSahara is a peer-reviewed scholarly publication of the Africa Association for the Study of Literature, Culture and the Environment (AASLCE), in association with Goldline and Jacobs Publishing, Glassboro, 08028, New Jersey.
This African journal of ecocriticism is published twice a year, Rains and Harmattan, to implant Africa’s natural round of seasons currently threatened by global industrial and human pollution, desertification and depletions of the ozone and cultural layers; as well as mega diseases like AIDS and cancer, bioterrorism, and other forms of environmental distress. Submissions based on multidisciplinary conversations of the environment with history, geography, politics, linguistics, economics, art, literature, food culture, architecture, biology, wildlife, film, religion, education, etc., are welcome. While the focus is on African living and writing experiences, comparative transatlantic studies are also considered.
Manuscripts must be written in English and must not be more than 35 pages, double-spaced; and typed with Microsoft Word Times New Roman 12-point font size. Articles should include a separate sheet that contains a maximum of 300 words abstract, and the author(s) affiliation, title and e-mail address. EcoSahara uses the guidelines presented in the current editions of MLA, APA and Chicago manual styles. All manuscripts for consideration, which must be original works not being reviewed elsewhere, should be sent to The Editors, 2012.
