MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- The vacant position is for either a Senior Lecturer or an Associate Professor who will teach Zulu linguistics to mother tongue students and Zulu language acquisition courses to non-mother tongue students.
- To be eligible for the position you must have obtained your doctoral degree in Zulu linguistics or language study and must have experience in teaching Zulu grammar and Zulu language acquisition courses at tertiary level.
- You must also have published in this field in accredited journals and must have a track record of postgraduate supervision.
- The incumbent must be a mother-tongue speaker of Zulu and apart from the formal academic requirements must also be a team player and must be well organised and meticulous in his/her administrative duties.
- The individual must be able to develop quality study materials, communicate effectively and manage big classes proerly.
- Must be a successful lecturer.
- You will be expected to be totally computer literate and must be experienced in at least the use of Outlook and the MS Office packages especially MS Powerpoint, Word and Excel.
- You must be a team player and must be actively involved in the discipline of African Languages.
- The Department of African Languages offer undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Northern Sotho and Zulu. The undergraduate courses are offered as mother tongue and non-mother tongue courses. Postgraduate programmes are offered at Honours, MA and PhD level for students specialising in either linguistics or literature study.
- Teaching undergraduate Zulu grammer and Zulu language acquisition courses to large classes.
- Teaching Zulu grammer at Honours level and also supervising postgraduate students at Master's and Doctoral level.
- You will furthermore be expected to do research and publish scientific articles / contributions in accredited journals and/or books.
