African Food, Art and Poetry Festival at Nubuke Foundation (Ghana)

Celebrating 56 years of Ghana’s independence! Eight Contemporary Ghanaian artists will explore the meaning of our independence from the perspective of other African countries. There will be performances, installations, talks and art workshops during the month of March.

Artists that will feature are Ato Annan, Bernard Akoi-Jackson, Kwesi Ohene Ayeh (IUB), Adwoa Amoah, Kelvin Haizel, Mawuli Tofah, Yibor Kojo Yibor and Serge Attukwei Clottey.

The highlight will be on March 6, 2013 with performances, exhibition opening, great music and a food fest. Food from all over Africa such as; ugali, acheke, akple, gari, yaka yake, abooloo, couscous and koose will be served. Drinks include Pito, palmwine, lemonade, bissap (soobooloo) and toose.

WE ARE AFRICA:

This exhibition on March 6 comes with the theme “We are Africa”.  It will be launched with an African Food and Poetry Festival on Independence Day. The rest of the month will feature workshops, installations and video art by the artists. This exhibition seeks to question our African-ness in our diversity, internally, regionally and globally. What makes us African and how is this portrayed in our daily lives? We Are Africa opens on 6th March 2013 from 10am.
