THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL:
- Assist with the management of content and production of the magazine
- Conceptualise, oversee and co-ordinate content and production.
- Oversee the signing off of features in the absence of the editor.
- Generate relevant, creative feature ideas in line with the Move! editorial mix
- Mentor and manage writers including briefing and ensuring copy is accurate, of the highest quality and in keep with the Move! writing standard.
- Assist in attending the events on behalf of the editor.
- Ensure articles are compiled according to Move! style
- Do final proofreading of features and other pages
- Manage editorial deadlines
- Manage features budget
- Commission articles
- Subedit copy
REQUIREMENTS
- A clear understanding of the Move! reader, its competitors and issues that affect the market.
- Ability to negotiate covers with celebrities
- A tertiary qualification in languages or journalism and at least five years' relevant experience in an editorial environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to make sound and quick decisions
- A passion for media and special interest and wide knowledge of current affairs
- The ability to work under pressure and under extreme deadlines (sometimes weekends).
- Well-developed planning and organisational skills
- The ability to effectively manage people and processes
- The ability to work as part of a team
- The ability to think laterally and creatively
- Proven feature-writing and copy editing skills
- A sound editorial knowledge
