Training by Italian director and film producer Antonio Martino and by journalist and video-reporter Nancy Porsia will kick off in Tripoli 3rd April: the course is designed for young people with a passion for reporting 2.0.
Anyone who has the desire and talent to gather and tell news or stories can, with basic audio, photo, and video equipment - even a simple smartphone, now available to many young people – produce compelling digital stories that engage the public with professional and at the same time appealing and engaging storytelling.
The professionalization of skills and talents of people who are already active in the collection of stories, memories, news, is the goal of the first training course in journalism and multimedia storytelling that will open in Tripoli on April 3, 2013 and will be inaugurated by President Magarief: an intensive three-week course that will teach those who are already active in the collection of stories the professional video, photo and text tools and technologies for the production of multimedia content.
MULTIMEDIA JOURNALISM AND STORYTELLING TRAINING
The training is limited to 30 course participants. Participants will come from different cities around all Libya in order to develop several subjects representing different realities of the country. Applicants will need to propose two subjects/stories they would like to develop (one referring to the city they come from and another referring to Tripoli, where the course will take place). Subjects must belong to one of the following three fields: forgiveness, social justice, memory. Candidates with a background in journalism and previous experience in reporting will have priority.
Applicants must supply their CV and fill the application form mentioning the two subjects they propose to developed and listing the equipment they have available (e.g. laptop, smartphone, camera, video camera or audio recorder).
Training will be in English and Arabic.
Accommodation costs for course participants from outside Tripoli will be covered by The Libya Initiative.
